30 Seconds to Mars (sau Thirty Seconds to Mars, avand prescurtarea 30STM) este o formatie americana de rock din Los Angeles, California, condusa de actorul Jared Leto, el fiind vocalistul formatiei, chitarist si compozitor.Formata in 1998 de Jared Leto si fratele sau Shannon, 30 Seconds to Mars parea un mic proiect de familie. Lucrurile s-au pus repede in miscare. Trupa l-a contactat pe Bob Ezrin, pe care il admira pentru lucrul impreuna cu Pink Floyd, Kiss si Alice Cooper, si au inceput inregistrarile la albumul de debut. Chiar inainte de lansarea albumului se daduse vestea ca 30 Seconds to Mars are un "sound" plin de adrenalina, imbinat cu chitari puternice, sintetizatoare si partituri surprinzatoare de voce, incat Puddle of Mud i-a invitat sa cante in deschiderea concertelor lor in primavara lui 2002, desi erau niste necunoscuti si nimeni nu le ascultase muzica la radio. Desi Jared este un cunoscut actor din Hollywood , 30 Seconds to Mars nu se foloseste de faima acestuia pentru promovarea trupei.

Logo

Phoenix-ul, primul logou al formatiei (pe care formatia il numeste "Mithra&quot :wink:

urmat de fraza "Provehito in Altum", acesta fiind mottoul formatiei. Traducind din latina , acesta insemnand "Mereu inainte spre necunoscut". Logoul a fost folosit prima oara pentru promovarea formatiei la debut.

Pentru al doilea album, "A Beautiful Lie", a fost creat alt logou, numit - Trinity Seal. Este compus din trei cranii si trei sageti indreptate spre interior si unul dintre cele patru simbolurile plasat la centru. De asemenea, logo-ul contine numele albumului si al formatiei.

Odata cu lansarea al 3-lea album al lor, "This Is War", 30 Seconds To Mars a introdus un nou logo, cunoscut sub numele de Triada. Acest logo este o reprezentare grafica a mottoului "Provehito in Altum" . El este emblema fanilor care se numesc "The Echelon".

30 Seconds To Mars have been working with producer Flood (Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins) at The International Centre For The Advancement Of The Arts And Sciences Of Sound in the Hollywood Hills and, according to frontman Jared Leto, the band have penned a staggering 120 songs for the new release.

"I'd get up and sometimes a song would just come," Leto told K!. "It would just happen. Generally if I sat down at the piano or picked up a guitar, a song would arrive. But every song is different and that's what makes it exciting and that's what makes it interesting. Every song has its own rules - some come quick; you have to beat the living shit out of others. The important thing to know is that the record is nearly finished."

Though a release date has yet to be set for the new album, Leto reveals that he and brother / drummer Shannon and guitarist Tomo Milicevic have distilled the 120 tracks down to just 20.

Leto also went on to reveal what the new album will be called:

"Want to know the working title of the album?" he asked Kerrang!. "Well, I'm going to give it to you. I did this before and I got in trouble and I probably shouldn't tell you this, but the title as it stands is... This Is War!"
