A £30m Tevez move across Manchester to join old enemies City would horrify United fans but suit the unsettled Argentinian striker.

Though there will be no European football at Eastlands next season, City can offer him the regular Premier League spot he craves.

Sir Alex Ferguson will this summer instruct his Chief Executive David Gill to delve deep into Manchester United’s coffers to offer his trusted young centre half Jonny Evans a monumental new deal.

The long term contract, believed to be worth £50,000 per week, will be just reward for helping Manchester United retain their Premier League crown, win the Carling Cup and reach the Champions League final for the second successive season.

The Red Devils won the League title for the 18th time in their history on Saturday after a scoreless draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford was enough to see them across the finish line ahead of rivals Liverpool.

And not for the first time this season, Northern Ireland star Evans (21) (above) delivered a stubborn and resiliant performance at the back to make sure United came away with the result they required.

It’s these type of displays which have hurried Ferguson into ordering Evans’ new long term big money contract.

For the United supremo sees Evans, who has played in 34 games this season, due to injury and suspensions to regular centre halfs Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, as the future of Manchester United’s defence.

With Ferdinand still out injured, Evans, who won a World Club medal in December, could still start the Champions League final against Barcelona in Rome on Wednesday, May 27.

Ferguson would certainly have no hesitation in throwing Evans in against Barca’s world class stars.

Meanwhile, Ferguson will continue as manager of Manchester United for "a number of years", according to chief executive Gill.

Gill said last night: "He’s still very motivated to go on and win things with Manchester United.

"He loves the game, he loves everything associated with the game, he’s very well supported by his staff and by the players. He’s very much still 100 per cent working at Manchester United. What Alex has done quite correctly is understand how to structure the club and he just takes the big decisions, and he delegates very well to a very experienced staff, a highly motivated staff, and he’s got a great team around him so it all works.

"As long as Alex continues to do that, which I’m sure he will, he’ll want to stay involved with Manchester United and run the team.”
